A rare example of Indian Knuckledusters or Vajramushti. A formidable weapon in the right hands. The hand grips appear to be made of wootz steel as a clear pattern is visible in places beneath the patina. The lower hand grip would have more than likely had some cloth or twine bound around it to strengthen the grip when held. The side curved blades are retained using screws (one replaced) and incised into the vertical hand bars. This type of construction suggests a 19th century date. |
