  Description :
An exceptionally large and original rare copper plate engraving by Alfred Alais of the famous 1893 painting titled: “Sikh War, Charge of the 3rd Kings Own Light Dragoons Moodkee” by the renowned Victorian artist Ernest Crofts. An enigmatic and harrowing depiction of the first Sikh War. Signed by Alfred Alais in pencil to the bottom right hand corner making this a very rare engraving. Framed and glazed in original Victorian glass, complete with gold border mounts. Total size (glazed) 83 cm (H) by 112 cm (W). Published on June 20th 1894 by George Rimagor & Son, King Street, St James SW. Rich tones and in excellent condition with no foxing to the main image. Mounted on stiff cream card. Reflections are due to sunlight and not present on the image.
