An interesting dagger from the Beja Tribe. The Beja Tribes are the indigenous inhabitants of the Eastern Region of the Sudan, with members of these tribes also present in southern Egypt and northern parts of Eritrea and Ethiopia. The Beja represent the most prominent, intact ethnic entity in the Sudan and in the north east part of Africa. Wooden handle with interesting tribal markings to the top. The wooden scabbard is covered in leather and unusually is ornamented with a baby crocodile skull complete with its teeth. 20th Century. |
