A rare Persian percussion pistol with French barrel. A high grade, decorative pistol made for the Persian Market. Side lock, barrel and trigger all French made and numbered with the numeral 2, signifying that this pistol would have been one of a pair. Chased side lock and trigger. The rifled barrel is decorated in gold damascene and inscribed with the words “Canons Damas De Paris” which translates into English as “Damascus Barrel from Paris”. Inlaid ivory and brass decoration, complete with Inlaid bird motifs. The bird decoration is carried over to the silver side plate and barrel bands which all carry the same bird motifs. One silver barrel band contains an Arabic inscription translated as “God is the conqueror”. Decorative Silver chased end cap with replacement modern screw. The percussion mechanism is in wonderful working order with no damage to the spring. A wonderful decorative pistol, the quality of which is seldom seen for sale on the open market.
