A fine miniature painting of the The Maharajah of Karputhala, a Princely Sikh State. Interestingly the Maharajah is shown holding an English made shotgun, a popular gun used during hunting parties of the 19th Century. Painted on card and dated on the reverse 1874. Painted in gold and vibrant colours, the quality of the brushstrokes is of the finest quality, particularly around the facial features. 19th Century. |
